Writing Online 101:
People connect with people. Lose the ‘we’ and write in first person.
Write as you, not as someone you think the reader wants to read from.
Write to a friend. How do you feel? What do you want them to know? Would you use [insert buzzword] when speaking to your friend?
Writing develops your thinking. Most of your ideas will come after you have started writing.
Don’t be precious. Delete unnecessary words, sentences or paragraphs. I cut most of my writing.
Read posts from writers you admire moments before you start.
Write in bursts. Let your drafts sit. Come back to edit.
An opening hook will stop a reader scrolling. What does your first sentence offer?
Publish frequently. You are more likely to write if people will read it. Your writing will improve the more you write.
